The Visualization and Image Analysis (VIA) Laboratory is based at the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University.
We are developing new methods of displaying, analyzing, and haptically rendering images, primarily for medical applications.
We have introduced a new device called the Sonic Flashlight TM ,
for guiding invasive medical procedures, and are also involved in creating image analysis algorithms for
identification and measurement of structure and function in medical images. We are also developing Fingersight
TM technology that gives individual fingertips the ability to feel and control the visible environment. |
